The enthusiasm of the co-founders of Scarlet Stitch
for  sewing  began as  young girls.  Tammy's first marked
interest  in  apparel construction was in her cutting up one
of her sister's Sunday dresses  to use the  material for doll
clothes. Tammy  does  not  remember this, but her sisters
verify. Jody's interest in designing began less conspicuously
with  two  well  placed  "arm holes"  in a tube sock, which
began  her new line  of  posh Barbie wear, and  later, with
creating patterns made of  paper bags for use on scraps of
old cloth. Their young  attempts  at  garment  construction
were  followed  by  a growing  interest  and  enjoyment  in
patchwork quilting.
In 2006, by combining the creativity and timelessness of
patchwork quilts  with  baby fashions,  Tammy  and  Jody
made their first patchwork dresses.  Never having thought
they could be successful at having their own business, they
were astounded  at  the  interest and success they found in
their first endeavor to sell their dresses - on a blog!
Customers loved the nostalgic style of their garments. This
experience  encouraged  them  to  continue  branching  out
beyond baby dresses and bloomers  to  introduce girls sizes
up to five  years, and  a  boys line  as well, with  the  same
nostalgic style.
They express their thanks to all of those who have shown
an interest in Scarlet Stitch's progress, and their thankfulness
to God who continues to bless their endeavors.
