We had our very first virtual Cape Town Frocktails event.

Originally, well, pre-pandemic, I would have gotten to meet fellow local sewists in person. But sadly, the event had to be cancelled due to COVID-19, so the organizers hosted a virtual event instead.

The idea is to dress up in a me-made garment or “frock” with a beverage or cocktail of your choice, and then take photos and upload it to Instagram. It is a new age and fun way to socialize online and meet new creatives.

I made another hacked Cool Stitches Elliot Top, except this time in a pink polka dot tulle, and I added a circle skirt tier. I think it turned out pretty cute! I paired it with my signature black booties to give that much needed edge and contrast I love.

Scroll further to see the beautiful photos captured by my hubby. I’m sipping on an Appletizer here.

The pandemic brought us closer together. It reminded us of what is truly important in life. It taught us, despite the adversities, that we can handle anything when we work together, and that is kind of magical.

      Hi Lindsay,

Thank you so much for your amazing message. It warms my heart!

I won’t be doing a tutorial for this hack because it was quite simple – I just added a circle skirt tier and then added another straight ruffle tier to the circle skirt bottom. You can decide how long you want it and how puffy you want the gathers for the bottom ruffle tier. Hope this helps.

      Sincerely,
      Raylene xoxo
