In this DIY I show you how to make a fully-lined cozy teddy cardigan.

It’s winter here in Cape Town and I just had to make myself this comfy yet stylish piece. I used to own a teddy cardigan, but I gave it away (goodness knows why I would do such a thing), and I have regretted it ever since. Nonetheless, my DIY skills came to the rescue!

The older I get, the more I find myself wanting to invest in fewer wardrobe staples.

Gone are the days where I had a closet full of clothes and yet I still had nothing to wear. I’ve learned the hard way that too much of something is not good. It leaves you feeling overwhelmed and it’s not a good feeling. It’s literally baggage, and I refuse to lug around things I don’t love. This is why I’m rather making pieces like this plaid dress. It’s such a simple pattern, yet I feel super cute in it!

I’ve been creating so many things in my little sewing studio at home, buying so much fabric and materials that I’m starting to lose track of all the projects I’m making. I decided to get a little more organized, so I created myself a little Sewing Project worksheet based on how I work that includes the materials and sewing notions I need, a sketch or picture of what I intend to make, any necessary skills I need to learn in order to complete the project, as well as some swatches of fabric I could use. I haven’t officially used my new system yet, but I’m going to give it a go and I will share my journey with you on this blog.

When life gets too much, all you can really do is slow down and embrace the moment you are in. There’s no point in wallowing in the past, because you’re not there anymore. There’s also no point in concerning yourself with the future, because you’re not there yet either.
